11 Months

There are so many things going on around here lately. We have been super busy. We both had finals, Josh has a few weeks off and I start classes again today. My next clinical is in Marion (boooo). We have also been spring cleaning, I love cleaning the house top to bottom in the spring with the windows open and fresh air coming in. Since we were doing that, I also had to rearrange a lot of the furniture in the house. Now its all done and it feels great.

Big news, we are planning Kaylee's 1st birthday party and are expecting around 40 people to be here (please don't rain, please don't rain). There will be a ton of kids here since Josh has 11 nieces and nephews just in his family alone :)

Kaylee is going to start getting the nickname I had as a child (boo-boo city). She is walking great now, but she has started to try and run...Its so cute, she laughs all the time (even when falling), but then it makes her prone to fall into furniture, toys, etc. She has had her fair share of tiny bruises and scratches...Let's hope she doesn't have any for her birthday party. Speaking of walking, Kaylee can stand up on her own without pulling up on furniture and can bend over and pick toys up without falling over!!! She loves to just carry stuff all over the place, especially semi-heavy stuff for a baby, like her container of baby wipes for example.

When she gets super excited about something, her whole body shakes, she waves her hands and jumps up and down with the biggest smile ever. She also has a cheesy grin when she wants to be adorable.

Kaylee has also learned how to throw a temper tantrum. Although it is a temper tantrum, I have to try very hard to be serious and firm with her because the face that she has during a temper tantrum is soo freakin' cute...

Kaylee got a new stroller (thank goodness, her travel system stroller is heavy!). Its a McClaren stroller and she loves it.

A little list of stuff she loves...
She loves climbing up the stairs (with mommy or daddy right behind her).
She loves ice water, especially through a straw.
She loves mac n' cheese and chicken nuggets.
When she is eating, she likes to "feed" Mommy and Daddy her food :)
Her hair can go into a ponytail and pigtails now lol
She loves standing at the back door and watching the dogs outside.

This was taken when I was re-arranging the house lol. We had to stop and take pictures of Kaylee and she just wanted to grab the camera.
This is her getting excited with her hands and screaming...no jumping here though.

There is the smile I love... She is loving this wide open space while I'm re-arranging furniture :)

Kaylee getting up all on her own...no help whatsoever.

Kaylee's hair after pigtails...

Such a pretty picture...gotta love those pig tails

Riding on her toy...Daddy's helping her :)
A little unsure here...

Okay, she likes it now :)

Trying to pick up heavy things...
New ride :)

She could stand here for hours...Okay, probably not hours, but a looong time (for a baby)

Trying to run...see the danger :) TABLE AHEAD Kaylee !!!

I love that we can put her hair up now. Its about time.
Post-Ponytail look...

And She's Off...

It's official, Kaylee is walking :)...She has been doing this darting around the room on furniture thing for a long, long time. She loves walking around holding our hands and she loves her little walker toy. But finally, over the weekend, Kaylee has progressed to letting go of everything and taking off across the room without any assistance, and she is pretty darn good at it. I think she is starting to understand that she can get somewhere much, much faster than crawling or walking around the room holding onto furniture. My goal is to get a video sometime this week and post it for everyone to see.

BTW, the dogs are in trouble now. She can chase them down lol.

Josh and I are both at the end of our classes this week. Josh gets a much deserved break from classes for about a month.

Kaylee turns 11 months on Wednesday and party planning is well underway for her 1st birthday party.

Stay tuned for that video!!!

10 Months Old

Wow, can you believe Kaylee is almost a year old?? Time flies when you’re having fun. Warm weather is back (finally!!), and we have been taking Kaylee outside in the fresh air to go to the park and meet the little neighbor girl who is almost exactly a year older than Kaylee. I was a bad Mommy because Kaylee and I met Josh for lunch at the park and I forgot my camera :( Kaylee experienced swinging in the children swings and LOVED it!! I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get pictures of her laughing and giggling, but alas, spring is just beginning. No doubt there will be more pictures than I know what to do with.

Big news here, Kaylee is almost walking. She will take about 5-6 adventurous steps on her own if she is motivated (usually by a cell phone, lol) and if she knows we are right there. She loves to stand and does really well with her balance. Luckily for us, she loves falling down on her bottom. She just laughs and claps and then pulls herself back up and tries it again. Everyone tells me that “it’s all down hill when they start walking” but I don’t believe so (they said the same about crawling and I love it). I will probably be more comfortable when she is steady and I’m not freaking out every minute that she is going to bonk that pretty little head and get a big goose egg. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those overbearing, overprotective mothers that makes their child learn how to crawl and walk in a virtual padded cell. She’s a kid, she will get bumps and bruises but they heal and I tell myself that it will be okay.

We are working on getting her set up for pictures. She was so sick that we couldn’t schedule her for her 9 month pictures. I’m a little disappointed, but we will get them done.

We are starting to plan Kaylee's first birthday party. It's so exciting, but I'm praying for good weather and not a rainy May day.

Updates...

  • Kaylee can crawl really fast. She chases you down if you walk away and loves chasing the “dog, dog”.
  • We put a baby gate up to block the dogs off. Kaylee climbs up holding onto the bars, shaking them and screaming at the dogs…The dogs sit on the other side like “ha, ha, you can’t get us!"
  • This stubborn little girl isn’t taking the longest naps anymore…short, quick naps for this one as of lately. I think she is afraid she is going to miss something.
  • She is saying mama more…it just melts my heart and I love it….I was feeling a little left out with her saying dada all the time and being such a daddy’s girl, but just hearing her say mama makes it all better.
  • I think she is trying to cut another tooth…if she does, that makes 9.
  • She loves playing pat-a-cake.

·

  • She is getting more and more interested in the sippy cup. We bought a different type and it seems to be a little easier for her to use.
Alright...On to the pictures :)

This is what Kaylee does when she is getting ready to take off on her own to try and walk...So freakin' cute

Her hair is starting to curl there behind her ear...I think I'm gonna have to break down and have her bangs trimmed :(
She LOVES this thing. She can pull herself up to it now without tipping over, and she takes off. I had to create a barricade as you can see.

Oh my goodness...This little girl is addicted to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the Hot Dog Dance. As soon as she heard the music she stopped playing with her favorite toy and was hooked.

Yep, she climbed right up on the TV and was dancing right along...We are trying to teach her not to mess with the TV...What can I say? Its a work in progress :)

Favorite toy...I just love her grins and smiles...

See, told you that smile was cute
We are trying to get Kaylee use to hats for the sunny weather... Can't have that harsh sun ruining the cutest baby cheeks ever!!
This girl just melts my heart with all her smiles...
Yummy, yummy penne pasta...
Ok...I love this fresh feeder thing...The girl would not eat bananas because they were too slippery and she would get aggravated at trying to pick them up. Put a banana in here and she goes to town...Plus I don't have to worry about her choking on it (which I love).
lol...I forgot about this "incident"...This little girl is sooo tall that we have to buy her pants a little bigger for the length to be right (otherwise she looks like she is waiting on a flood)...Obviously this pair is just a bit big. She started jumping up and down in her pack n' play and down they went...Sooo funny.
Ok...Don't freak out, Zoe isn't being mean. The dogs go behind the gate when the need a break from the little tornado here. Zoe came right up to the gate after Kaylee had been banging on it saying "dog, dog" and reaching through the gate. After Zoe got to the gate she just stood there as if to say "ha, ha" and then yawned and went back to lay down. I know the picture is a little blurry, but I can't believe I got it on camera!!

:) This is what happens when you chase Kaylee when she is crawling...She gets so excited she lays down like this and just cracks up...I love her soo much.
After she is done laughing, she will turn around like this to make sure your not coming after her again...Then she gets up and I chase her again...

Just a cute picture :) Wouldn't you agree?
Picture of proof...She loves to bang on that gate for the dogs :)

So her bow is coming out of her hair, but this little booger just kept lifting her dress up in church... She had never really done that before and really hasn't done it since...goofy child.

9 + Months :)

Wow, this post is a little late. These last couple of weeks have been a bit crazy. I had finals, Josh has had exams in both classes and Kaylee turned 9 months old. All of this was happening all while Kaylee was very sick... This little girl can't catch a break this winter. I say lets do away with winter, we're ready for spring around here.

Kaylee had to go to the doctor because she had a double ear infection, croup, RSV, fevers (around 103) and pink eye in both eyes [don't know exactly how she got that :( ]. This all happened rather quick, maybe a day and a half. I took her to the doctor first thing last Monday morning and the poor girl had to get two shots of Decadron in her legs...She wasn't very happy about this at all. I got the most pitiful look like "mama, I already don't feel good and your letting them jab things into my legs!!!!". They also put her on an antibiotic and said to continue her breathing treatments; and then we were on our way. By Thursday she was not doing any better, in fact I think she was doing worse so I called the pediatrician's office again . Fever's were still occurring despite antibiotics and alternating Motrin and Tylenol for her. Her eye's looked a lot worse as well and the poor girl was just hating life. She also refused to eat or drink very much (only drinking 2-3 ounces of her 6-8 ounce bottles) Back to the doctor we went. Doctor confirmed that she was getting worse and ordered two injections of an antibiotic as well as a different oral antibiotic and numbing ear drops. Again I got the look for the shots that she got. Finally, after all of this, Kaylee is feeling much better. She still has a residual cough now and then, but she is back to crawling all over the place, chasing dogs, pulling herself up onto furniture and LOVING life again:)

Toward the end of Kaylee being sick, Josh and I then got sick. Everyone is on antibiotics and we are feeling much better.

Moving on, I'm hopeful Kaylee will be walking soon. She loves to stand and has tried to take a few steps to mama or dada. She is getting more comfortable with falling down and going "boom", so this makes her a little more brave to keep standing and pulling herself up to things.

Tid bits of info...

  • Kaylee is super tall. She is 29 inches long. She is too long for some of her size 12 months pants and dresses.
  • Kaylee weighs 20lbs 14oz. This was taken when she was sick and the thought that she had probably lost a little weight before this.
  • Kaylee had her first "real" dinner with mama and dada. We had spaghetti and she loved it. We were going to do this a little while ago, then Kaylee got sick and we had to wait.
  • She has 8 teeth. 4 top front teeth and 4 bottom front teeth. This girl is not playing around with cutting teeth :)
  • She gives kisses and high fives, and she loves to wave.
  • She loves, loves, loves the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She dances to the opening song and the closing song called "the hot dog dance".
  • She is finally saying Mama :) it melts my heart (and its about time lol)
  • Her bangs are sooo long...I cant bring myself to cut them yet.
This little girl is such a Daddy's girl. She loves to sit on Josh's lap while they watch Sports Center. I don't know why that show is so captivating, but neither of them budge while they are watching it. Don't dare try to talk to either one, because it's pretty much guaranteed that they are not paying any attention to you lol.

We will be having Kaylee's 9 months milestone pictures done (although it will be like a 10 month picture because she was sick) so you will have to stay tuned for those.

Enjoy some pictures...

She really loved the spaghetti...I promise she got some in her mouth lol.

She loves to pose like this...she does it everywhere, especially under the ceiling fan :)
Crawling to chase the dogs.
These next two pictures show off her teeth...but I haven't gotten a picture of all of them.

I love this precious smile...
Zoe loves Kaylee...She gets attention all the time. They get along so well.
I missed getting the picture that had her whole head in there :(
These two are patiently waiting for spring to come lol.
Kaylee's first balloon. She got this when we went to lunch at Red Robin. She loved this thing.
