Two months and one week old...

Boy do I have a lot to talk about. I cannot believe Kaylee is two months old. She is so fun to watch and play with. I cannot believe how much she is changing, and all of a sudden. Her hair is getting darker and filling in. She is filling out and getting bigger. At her doctors appointment she weighed 10lbs 14 ounces!!! Every moment with her is exciting, even if she is just taking a nap in my arms. She got her first set of immunizations on Monday. She let out one really, really big wail and held her breath, then mommy scooped her up and she did a few "gotta catch my breath" type sobs. Almost immediately after I picked her up, she calmed down. Mommy rescued her, so she was happy (or at least as happy as she could be at that moment:). All in all, she did really well and I was very thankful for that.

We decided we were going to pierce her ears after she had her shots, so we waited about 5 days and then took her to the mall for the first time and had her ears pierced. She did really well with that too. I had to hold her while they pierced her ears because Daddy was afraid he wouldn't hold her tight enough :) Sooo, Josh had the all important job of standing right next to her talking calmly to her. He stood by with her bottle for after we were done. As soon as she had her ears pierced, I held her and talked to her and then Daddy gave her a bottle and all was better. I have to say, she is so darn precious with those ears pierced.

Josh got to spend some time with Kaylee all by himself today for about 9 hours while I was in clinical. They had a fantastic time (no doubt sports center was part of the day lol). I did pretty good as well. That was my first time leaving her for that long of a period of time. Josh sent me picture mail and I called a few times :) This is soon to be an everyday thing because my time at home with Kaylee is winding to an end (very quickly). Time with her flies by so quick when I'm at home, I'm almost afraid to see how fast it goes with me going back to work... However, if I want to continue to buy this little one all the cute stuff I see for her, I'm pretty sure I need to go back to work. What can I say...Its an ADDICTION!!!

Some things to mention...

  • She is just starting to grow out of newborn clothes and can wear 0-3 month clothes and some 3 month clothes!!!
  • She is into the next size diaper.
  • She is starting to bat at toys with her hands.
  • She is getting better at taking longer naps during the day instead of power naps.
  • She still sleeps through the night (yay).
  • She loves all mirrors
  • She has figured out that when she kicks her feet in the bouncer, the bouncer bounces... It sounds funny, but she always like the bouncer because it has that soothing vibration. Now she finds it fun too...
  • She thinks its funny when Josh rubs her head... It makes her laugh.
  • She is starting to get the hang of laughing and it is sooo adorable.
  • She still hasn't found her thumb, but she is very content with her whole fist in her mouth.

Although I could go on and on (and on, and on, and on) about every little detail of this amazing little girl, I will not subject anyone to me talking (or typing) for that long. ~~~ your welcome lol.

Okay, on to the pictures...

I just love how big she is getting.

8 weeks (and a couple days)

So this post is really late for her 8 week post. It’s been a very busy week. I started back in school, went to my sister-in-law's baby shower and we were planning a get together at our house for Josh's 30th birthday. Josh's birthday was yesterday and we had about 30 people at our house for a cookout. It rained like crazy all day and made for an interesting day. The rain cleared up about an hour before the party, which was perfect. We had lots of great food and one awesome cake. Josh's 4 year old nephew sang happy birthday to him for his own special birthday present (it was so cute).

Kaylee is getting so big. We are estimating her weight around 11-12 lbs. She is becoming quite the little character and always makes us laugh. She loves to smile, is learning to giggle, and eats like a champ. Her laughing is so cute. You can tell she wants to laugh but cant quite get it out yet. She is really finding her hands very fascinating. She is trying to learn how to suck her thumb but just ends up with half her fist in her mouth because her thumb is tucked under her fingers. Kaylee gets her shots tomorrow :( I hope Kaylee will do great (I hope I will do okay too).

The fourth of July was very relaxing. There was a last minute block party in our court with all of our neighbors that turned out really well. We all gathered under tents and talked and ate all day. We then got news that my next door neighbor had her baby (on the fourth!!). At the end of the night, we watched the Grove City fireworks from court with a perfect view. Kaylee was a hit with the neighbors.

Okay, enough chatting. PICTURE time :)

Zoe Zo... The gentle giant. She just lays there next to Kaylee. She is so gentle with her. Kaylee is laying there watching the ceiling fan.
Kaylee is working on her head strength. She is doing very well.

She is getting tired. But she has switched from working on her neck strength to working on finding that thumb.

Getting a little more tired...

Totally pooped, but still trying the hand.

Josh's cake...It was YUMMY!!!!

7 Weeks Old

We are looking forward to the next couple of weekends. This weekend Josh gets a long weekend because of the holiday. I think Kaylee is looking forward to Sports Center with Daddy on Friday morning, lol. We will be cooking on the grill, relaxing, and enjoying the fireworks of red, white and boom, although it will be on TV this year :) This weekend will also bring stressful nights of being kept up all night, but not from Kaylee. This weekend will be dreadful for Petey! He is extremely sensitive to fireworks and if the neighbors let off fireworks all weekend like they did last year, this will be a bad weekend. I will have to make sure I have Benedryl on hand for the little guy to help him calm down.

Next weekend we will be celebrating Josh's 30th birthday!! We are expecting around 30 people at our house and we are going to have an evening cookout with family and friends. Kaylee will love this no doubt. She is all about attention.

Speaking of the little princess, Kaylee is putting on weight now. I cannot wait until her next appointment to see how much she weighs. She has realized that she loves to eat. Her face is filling out and her thigh's have a little roll (so freakin' cute!!). We have a little routine in the morning and it is the best way to spend the first few minutes of being awake. In the morning when Kaylee wakes up, she is a little ray of sunshine. She is always a little ray of sunshine, but this is especially cute. I put her on the changing table and always say "good morning princess". This always brings this great big smile that just melts my heart. She then continues to smile, grin, and sometime a squeal will slip out. This morning I got the smile, grin, squeal, and a big yawn. She then spends a few minutes in her crib, mesmerized by her mobile and I go let the dogs out and get her bottle. I can hear her little squeals and her babbling about her mobile. I go back upstairs and give her her bottle and she is happy as a clam. She hasn't started laughing yet, but I think she is getting there. Her little squeals are starting to last longer or have another sound attached to the end that makes it sound like she is trying to laugh. So it ends up sounding something like a squeal with a little hiccup at the end.

Here are some adorable pictures. I love how she is just starting to stare at the camera.

This is the big yawn I got this morning. Baby yawns are so precious.

Here is the morning squeal and smile. Such a good way to spend the morning.
I love how she just stares and grins. I took at least 25 pictures of this pose.
I just love how her face is starting to fill out. (That's Daddy's chin)

She is holding a little stuffed doll that says "my first doll". It has a rattle in it and she loved watching it for the longest time.
I cannot post enough pictures of this smile. I love it...
You can tell how she is filling out in this picture.
Check out her little thighs. There is her very first roll!!!

6 weeks old

Kaylee and I went to my 6 week check up today. Everything is great and my incision looks great. Kaylee had a blast. Every nurse and doctor paid attention to her, so it was a great trip for her.

Fathers Day was fun... We made a casting of Kaylee's whole hand and foot. It turned out pretty well. We had a nice relaxing day, and Kaylee and Josh were inseparable. Josh had his favorite dinner (steak of course).

Kaylee is becoming quite the little eater. Ever since her Zantac started working, she has discovered she loves to eat. When she first started her spitting and throwing up we had just upped her to three ounces. When she started spitting up so much, we backed her back to two ounces but fed her more frequently. Since her medication started working, we bumped her back up to three, but she wanted to eat every hour and a half. When the doctor's office called to check on her on Monday I told them about this. They said to bump her up to four ounces. They said the medication probably made her realize that eating wasn't such a bad thing anymore. I bet she will start putting on more weight now :)

Kaylee's personality is starting to show. We all know she loves to smile, but she is starting to smile on purpose and not just randomly. It’s fun to play with her now. She loves us to tap on her mouth or to run your fingers over her lips really fast and make funny noises at the same time. She smiles every time.

That’s all I have for now.

She loves to rub her hands together. She hasn't gotten the hang of playing with a toy or anything, but her hands keep her occupied :)

Big yawn after a long day...
She looks so much like her daddy here. Especially her chin...
This is her "I'm so pretty" look for the camera.

Update...

Kaylee had her appointment at Children's Hospital today and she had an ultrasound and an upper GI done. The ultrasound cleared her of pyloric stenosis, as well as checked out her kidneys and intestines. They decided to go ahead with the upper GI to make sure there were no strictures in her esophagus. All tests were clear, but the upper GI showed her reflux. It was actually pretty cool to watch, not so cool for Kaylee (poor girl). As soon as she started drinking the barium, it came right back up. She will remain on her medication, and if that doesn't help they will think about other options for her. Kaylee was a trooper today. She was not allowed to eat for 5 and a half hours. This was especially long for her since we reduced the amount she was eating, but we were feeding her very frequently to help keep it down. She was not at all happy about not being able to eat, and wasn't leaving mine or Josh's arms for nothing. As long as she was with one of us, she was calm and did really good. The doctors were really great with her and we were relieved to hear she didn't have to have surgery.

5 weeks 1 day... :)

Well Kaylee is one month old as of last Saturday :) It is so fun to watch the changes that occur in her on a day to day basis. Yesterday, I got my first smile from her by just speaking to her. Normally you have to work for a smile, but yesterday I was changing her clothes so we could go meet Josh for lunch and when I said "okay princess, lets go meet daddy..." I got the biggest, all gums, smile from her. She has been really smiley lately and boy do I have the pictures to prove it! I'm still not getting very good video of her, but hopefully soon.

Kaylee has a blocked tear duct and it is probably driving me more insane than it is her. It gets all that goop in it and glues shut within a matter of minutes. Thankfully I live next door to an eye surgeon that has been very helpful. We have to put pressure on the duct and I cannot believe how much crap comes out of it. The good news is, just yesterday I started to see a big improvement. I hope this is the light at the end of the tunnel.
  • This will probably jinx me, but since we started a solid bedtime routine with her, we have been getting around 6-7 hours of sleep at night (sometimes more).
  • Kaylee absolutely loves bath time, she hates the drying off part :)
  • She loves her toy on her carrier.
  • She is just recently fascinated with her mobile on her crib.
  • She is doing really well with holding her head up for a few seconds.
  • Still take power naps, but I can't complain when I get a good nights rest :)
  • She is getting close to out growing some of her newborn clothes. Other newborn outfits are still swimming on her. She is definitely a long and skinny baby.
  • We still take walks around the block when the weather will let us.
  • She LOVES to smile..
  • She weighed 8 lbs 7.5 oz at the doctors today

We left Kaylee on Friday night with her Aunt Rah Rah and Josh and I went out for our anniversary. We saw a funny movie and had a great dinner. It was our first evening away from Kaylee together. It was very nice to go to a nice restaurant and just spend a little alone time together.

Kaylee went to the pediatrician today because she is having some stomach issues. She has been very fussy for a little over a week now. It happens during her feedings and after for up to an hour and a half. She also has projectile vomiting then continues to spit up and she screams and cries when she is sat up after feedings and especially if she has to burp. After all of that is out of her system she is the happiest baby. I called the pediatrician this morning because I thought she was not tolerating her formula. They wanted to see her right away. The doctor thinks she has severe reflux and prescribed her Zantac. They also scheduled an upper GI to rule out pyloric stenosis. If Kaylee has this, she might need surgery. She goes to Children's tomorrow for the test.
That's about all the update I have for now, but enjoy some very smiley pictures...
I love how stretched out she is here (please let her be tall, please let her be tall)

This is her one month picture (one of many)
I love how she props her head on her arms...

These are my flowers from my anniversary, they smell wonderful!

Now for the smiley pictures...

In the last picture, she is smiling at her mobile on her crib...

5 Year Anniversary!!!

Today is our 5 year wedding anniversary! I cannot believe it has been five years already and that we have been together for 10 1/2 years. Many people cannot believe that!! Josh and I will leave Kaylee for the evening and go out for a nice dinner and then catch a movie. It will be the first night out alone since Kaylee was born. Kaylee will be in great hands and will no doubt be hugged, cuddled and entertained all evening until we return :)
One quick picture of Kaylee. It's another funny pacifier pic... I cannot resist. She is too funny with this thing.
