New Post Coming Very Soon!!

Man oh man, have we been busy over here. Finals are next week. We had pictures taken. We have all been sick, then Josh and Kaylee got better, and now Kaylee is getting sick again. Kaylee has been to the doctor for her 6 month appointment so I have updates on weight, length, etc (you probably won't believe me when I tell you). I cannot wait to tell everyone what has been going on in our lives and what's new with Kaylee. Also I have some cute pictures to show everyone. Needless to say, I have A LOT to talk about... Plus, Christmas is coming soon. This is such an exciting time around here.

6 months old....

6 months already, can you believe it? Kaylee is sooo AMAZING. She is so loving, cuddly, curious, funny, independent, and so many more things. Josh and I are very blessed to have such a wonderful daughter. So much has happened in the last month, I don't know where to begin.

As everyone knows now, Kaylee has cut her first tooth. To my surprise, a second one popped up right next to it yesterday. Our 6 month old has two teeth already…I just can’t believe it. Now and then I will wash my hands real well and go “tooth” hunting. You just never know anymore when one will pop up. The bad thing about feeling around for new teeth is that Kaylee LOVES to practice with her existing teeth lol. She loves to nibble down on your finger when you’re trying to feel for new teeth. Those little things are sharp! But you can’t blame her since she does it to her own fingers too now and then…what can I say, I guess teething bites lol.

Kaylee has moved on to vegetables in the last couple of weeks. So far we have tried sweet potatoes and peas. With the sweet potatoes, Kaylee wasn’t very fond of them for the first two days (and do I have a good picture of this). She made the most pitiful face and started gagging. After that, she loved them. When we switched to peas, after a couple bites full of funny faces, she ended up loving the peas too.

Kaylee is doing really well with sitting up. Sometimes she gets too excited and starts to do this little jump (while she is seated), and starts to fall over. She still rolls all over the place, so we have made the loft Kaylee’s play area. Kaylee loves to play in her activity jumper and loves to stand while holding on to you.

Josh has taught Kaylee how to give high fives. This is so cute, and she normally only does it for him (little stinker). Kaylee has a really good tickle spot right beneath her ribs. I will have to get a video of Josh tickling her and post it. It is too funny. She is laughing so hard sometimes we have to stop.

We are getting really excited about the holidays coming up. We can’t wait to spend time with our families. I’m having to restrain myself from putting the Christmas tree up way too early. I just cannot wait to see Kaylee’s face when she see's the lights and ornaments on the tree.

Kaylee officially has her first set of drums. She loves to beat on them and listen to them play music and light up. I have to say her favorite toy at home is her activity jumper and her favorite toy on the go is a simple butterfly toy that she loves to bite on because of her teeth. We cannot go anywhere without it for long periods of time.

That’s about all I have for right now. Josh, Kaylee and I are having our pictures taken this weekend so I cannot wait to see how they turn out. Kaylee’s doctor’s appointment isn’t for a couple of weeks (boooo), so I do not know how much she weighs or anything. This flu season and the upcoming holidays make it hard to make a doctors appointment.

Enjoy the pictures below. (p.s. for those that tried to view this and couldn't, I hope editing it has fixed it) :)

Kaylee at 2 days old. So precious.

Couple of bites into the pea's.

First bite of sweet potatoes... She was kind of gagging too...

There's the gag... I promise she ended up loving them.

And we have a TOOTH folks!!!!

After many, many months of teething, Kaylee finally had a tooth poke through today. She was with my cousin Amy (who babysits her a couple days a week), and after being happy all day, they went to the store and all of a sudden Kaylee let out a loud shriek...Amy peeked in her mouth and saw a little sharp head of her tooth poking out. After Kaylee had something to bite on, she was happy as a clam. Tylenol has been a must today...poor girl, tooth pain is the worst. Kaylee will be completely happy and content, and then all of a sudden she will let out a short, sudden burst of a cry, and as soon as she has one of her cold teething toys to chew on, she is fine. Of course this had to happen on the first day EVER that I couldn't carry my cell phone because my clinical's are at a prision! Figures...a big thing like that happens and I'm the last to know( lol). Amy called Josh and said "Okay, don't freak out because I'm calling you...but I just wanted you to know that Kaylee just cut her first tooth". Josh said he had been dying to tell me the news for like 4 1/2 hours. I really didn't feel too left out because I got to pick her up from Amy's and got to see and feel her first tooth for myself :) Kaylee is kinda funny about her tooth...She keeps sticking her tongue out like she is feeling it with her tongue (its too cute). No pictures that you can see it yet :(

Just in case you didn't know, Kaylee is the best baby ever! She loves to be tickled, and sang to, and kissed and hugged. She loves to play in her bounce-about and loves her activity jumper. She rolls uncontrollably all over the place and has started reaching out to pet Petey and Zoe. Her curiosity for the dogs is really growing and it is amazing to watch her stop what ever she is doing when Zoe walks by so she can reach out to try and touch her. Zoe is still unsure of what Josh and I will let her do, so she normally steers clear of Kaylee (lol).

FYI... Kaylee will be 6 months old in 10 days!!!! Can you believe it? She is almost a half of a year old. Time really flies when your having a blast with the best little girl ever!!! (There is no bias here, right???)

Trick or Treat

Tonight was Kaylee's very first trick or treat experience. We didn't go around, but we did pass candy out to other kids and visited a couple of neighbors. Kaylee was dressed as a little lady bug...too cute of course. Kaylee's previous costumes were too small two days before, so Josh spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday during his lunch breaks trying to find a costume at the last minute that would fit. Come to find out he went to three different Target stores and finally found the one I originally wanted but couldn't find...a lady bug. Whew, Daddy saved the day :)

Kaylee lasted about 20 minutes in her costume and then was a little upset that it was constricting her feet. She has always been a kicker, I don't know what made me think this would be any different. We did get some cute pictures and I can't wait to share them. All I can say is I can't wait for the next holidays!!!

Another thing happening with Kaylee is that she is starting to hold out her arms for Mommy and Daddy when we get ready to pick her up. This is so darn cute. She hasn't gotten it down completely yet, so instead she pounds her fists in excitement on whatever is in front of her. If it happens to be me holding her and Daddy holding his hands out for her, I get a beat down from Kaylee girl. Its okay though because I just can't get enough of it.

That's all I have right now for a quick post...Enjoy some pictures.

I can't get enough of that smile...she is a goofy girl.

Working on sitting up (and leaning over!).
Kaylee is starting to tolerate her robe. She is so adorable in it.
Cutest lady bug ever!!!

5 months old :-)

Just when you think life cannot get any better with Kaylee, amazingly it does. Everyday holds something new and exciting with her. This last month has held many adventures. Brace yourself for a long post :)

First and foremost, Kaylee is mobile. She can roll all over the place. One day she hated being put on her stomach to strengthen her neck, then the next day I put her down and she rolled across the living room floor. It literally happened that quick. After that, we rearranged the loft and it is now Kaylee's space. It has her toys, jumper, another glider to rock in, etc. Its a nice place to be able to spend time together. We still have to finish baby proofing the house, looks like we are going to have to get a jump on that.

Kaylee can sit independently for a short while. She then topples over and heads for her feet or the closest toy. This also seemed to happen overnight. She is definitely getting so strong. Kaylee is holding her own bottles. She still lets us do it now and then, but she loves to do it herself. I have a feeling this one will be little Miss independent :)

We bought her an activity jumper. This is hilarious to watch her play in. Every time she moves, it makes funny noises and she laughs and laughs (especially if we repeat the noise). She is still about leaning forward and trying to put the stationary toys of the activity center into her mouth. She tries so hard to do it and she can only reach the one toy...

Kaylee is still very vocal, but occasionally she will move her mouth like she is having an entire conversation and no sound will come out (not even a peep). This is soooo funny to watch because this girl knows how to be vocal, but here she looks like a silent movie. I'm also pretty sure this is related to her teething, but still fun to see...

We are still debating on what costume we want to get her for Halloween. We did buy her a shirt of course that says "my first Halloween". I cannot wait for all of the holidays to come up. This year is going to be so much fun.

Little tid bits of info...
  • Kaylee is almost growing out of size two diapers (size 3 is just a little big still)
  • Kaylee is in 6 month clothes
  • She loves her rice cereal and loves to play in it
  • She loves rolling around
  • She loves her changing table (not quite sure why, but she laughs the entire time she is on it.)
  • Kaylee loves her highchair (its a new vantage point to explore the world)
  • She still eats 6 oz bottles although she will eat 8 oz occasionally
  • She is still teething.
It has been a very exciting month. Almost too much to remember. I am going into finals next week and starting next semester I only take one class at a time (yay!). Just down to nursing classes now!!! Hopefully this gives me a little more time to sneak extra posts in and give mid-month updates... Basically, I'm afraid to blink with this girl...something exciting is bound to happen and then I would miss it lol.

Just because I love this picture...
Kaylee and her Daddy...

I love these giggle faces...

This one is her trying to figure out how to put that toy in her mouth...eventually she figures it out and this will be the only toy she plays with on this because she can put it in her mouth...

Rolling over...Yay (no more being stuck on her side lol)

Believe it or not, she is fascinated by the TV... I believe we are watching Mickey's clubhouse.

I cannot resist posting pictures of her smiley faces...

Gave up on the toy going in her mouth...she settled for her fingers. That's always a reliable option...

Miss INDEPENDENT... She is holding her bottles most of the time now...

Routines...

Wow, its amazing how life really flies by. That old saying about "time flies when your having fun" is so true. Kaylee is such a blast and I cannot believe she will be 5 months old a week from today. This little one has done some amazing things this month (info coming in her 5 month post). I just put Kaylee to bed for the evening, and I cannot tell you how special that time is. First, Kaylee gets her bath and she plays and kicks in the tub for a little while. This is so funny because she loves to kick and splash and suck on her arm and fingers when they are covered with water. Tonight I put the water in the tub and let her float in my arms on her back like you would in a swimming pool. She loved it. She lightly flapped her arms like she was floating. I think she will definitely love to swim. After her bath, she gets dried off and then we put lotion on her. She gets her PJ's on and gets her earrings cleaned and her hair brushed (since she finally has some). The best part of her bedtime routine is cuddling up in the rocker while she has her bottle. She is getting to the point she can hold her bottle herself and in the beginning she likes to hold it. As she gets more sleepy I have to help. When she lets go of her bottle, she reaches up to make sure you are still there. Her hands come to rest on either side of my face and they stay there while she eats and gets sleepy. When her bottle is done she snuggles her face into my shoulder takes a big sigh and starts falling asleep. This is such a precious time and I do not look forward to the day that she doesn't want to cuddle anymore :( I could cuddle like that forever.

Just wanted to share a glimpse of how even ordinary, everyday things can be amazing. It is exciting to see how things change and evolve with her and how incredibly awesome it is to watch this little one learn something new.

Next week I will post a 5 months post. She is great. So many changes have occurred and I cannot wait to tell all about it....

4 months and 1 week old.

Well, Kaylee is 4 months old (and one week) already. Can you believe it?? In some ways it has flown by, in other ways it feels as if it’s been a long time already. Looking at Kaylee, I cannot believe how fast the beginning of her first year is flying by. She is growing so fast!!! However, it feels like an eternity since I had all that wonderful time off work with her. In reality I’ve only been back a month and a half.

Kaylee went to her four month check up at the doctor. She weighs 14 lbs 12.5 oz!!!! She had to get some more immunizations (boooo). She cried a little longer than when she had her first ones and when she had her ears pierced. She was fascinated by her doctor (up until that point). The day after her immunizations, she spiked a fever and had two big red knots on her thighs at the injection sites. Her little thighs were so sore…and she was not very happy.

That unhappiness didn’t last too long; because we were given the okay to start rice cereal with her. She LOVED it lol. The second day feeding her, she started grabbing my hand (spoon and all) and shoving it in her mouth. Crazy girl. She also enjoys biting the spoon (she’s starting to teethe). She doesn’t have any teeth poking up yet, I imagine this will take a while…

This little girl is hilarious. I was giving her a bath the other day and I set her down into the water (she normally sits on the mesh baby bather seat). She kicked her feet like crazy and was cracking up to see the water splash around because of it. She then decided to get her hands in the water and splash around too. I was soaked lol.

She is getting to the age that she can amuse herself for small periods of time. She is easily amused. She loves watching the flashing of the colors on the TV, mirrors, her toys, mommy & daddy, the dogs, the wall (yes, she will stare at the walls or the ceiling), the ceiling fan and her hands (specifically her hands in her mouth). She is still working on mastering rolling over. She can do it, but gets preoccupied easily and just ends up lying on her side.

She is a SILLY baby. We bought her an activity bounce-a-bout. It is a seat that has toys all around it and the base bounces a little when she kicks. She likes the one toy on it and that’s about it so far. She will sit there for a while trying to figure out how to get this big spinning ball into her mouth…It can’t happen, but its fun watching her try. When she gets a little steadier sitting, I want to get her a jumper activity seat. I’m sure that will be a blast. Sometimes I think I get more amusement out of her toys than she does. She is so funny to watch, she truly is a little character.

Her bedtime routine consists of a playing, bath time, lavender baby lotion and a little baby massage, brushing her baby hair (she finally has some), PJ’s and rocking in her glider in her room with me while getting her bottle. This is a special routine Kaylee and I have. While drinking her bottle, she loves to reach up and touch and hold onto my face. This is sooo precious. She also pats her own head and rubs her hair.

Because I was going to work before Josh, He got the morning routine and I got the evening routine… This is special time we get to spend with Kaylee. Josh’s morning routine is getting her up, getting her ready for the baby sitters, her bottle and they watch sports center together. They have been watching sports center together since day 1. Sports Center is 10x better now that football season is here!!!

Little bits of INFO…

  • Kaylee is finally into a size 2 diaper and 3-6 month clothes
  • She eats 6 oz every 3-4 hours
  • She sleeps great at night and takes about 3 naps a day
  • Will put everything in her mouth and is working on getting her feet in there
  • Still takes Zantac for Reflux :(
  • She is very, very vocal. She squeals, laughs, and babbles, etc.
  • Had her first bad dream this month
  • She likes to stand on your lap
  • She is very strong
  • She is starting to blow raspberries again (she kinds sticks her tongue out to do it)

Many of you know I started a new job Monday. My last day at my old job was Sept 11. I was there for 5 years and I really saw and learned a lot. I will miss everyone very much.

This new schedule allows me to spend evenings, weekends, and holidays at home with my family. This is especially important since the major holidays are coming up and they will be Kaylee’s first.

Okay, I think this small book about covers the last month…

Enjoy some pictures of our little one.

This is her bounce a bout. That's the clear ball she tries to lean forward and put it in her mouth.

This is her pose we put her in every month. She is getting so big.

Another pose we use every month. Its so fun to watch her grow.

This is her playing on her activity mat before bed time. You can tell she is really sleepy in these pictures.

Such a sleepy face...

This is an example of her getting bored and just stays on her side instead of rolling over.

First time eating rice cereal. I'm pretty sure she likes it.

She loves to take the spoon from me and chew on it. So freakin' cute.
