Easter 2011 and More

It’s been a while since I got some pictures on here, so I figured it’s about time to do that :)

Easter was a blast. We colored eggs, baked and iced cookies, gave presents, ate good food, went to church and enjoyed our time together. I got tons of pictures of baking/icing cookies and coloring eggs and forgot to get a picture of Kaylee in her Easter dress….figures. Kaylee really enjoyed coloring Easter eggs with us. She drew on them (and sometimes told us what to draw on them) and picked to color she wanted it…daddy did the coloring. After they were dry, Kaylee helped sticker them up just to take the stickers off and put them all over herself. It was really funny. Later that day we made cutout cookies and iced and sprinkled them. She was a hoot. I kept trying to help her and she would push my hand away and say “mama stop” or say “no, no, no, no”. Miss independent wants to do everything herself. She did much better than I thought she would.

Other than Easter, Kaylee is growing and growing. Kaylee can spell her first and middle name. Sometimes when she goes down for a nap, before she falls asleep, you can hear her in there spelling her name…it’s so funny. She is working on her ABC’s and loves saying “L,M,N,O,P” although it comes out much sweeter and I can’t even give you an example. She can also count to 13 now. Her sign language is still coming along. She knows mom, dad, thank you, Jesus, snow, book, bible, love you, and more. It just amazes me how smart she is. Kids really are little sponges.

She has also become very concerned about everything…she always asks, mama okay? Dada okay? It doesn’t matter what you do. You could set a book down on a table and she would ask you if you’re okay? I stubbed my toe the other day and she said….mama, its “aawight”and patted me on the head.

We have been taking Kaylee to the park when it’s warm enough outside. One time we went, Kaylee got to experience how to skip (or more like throw) rocks into the creek at the park. She had a blast and every time we pass any park, it’s “Mama park! Mama park!”

Kaylee loves pockets. She loves her spring jacket and before we go out the door to get in the car, she hands us whatever toy she has in her hands to take with her and shoves her hands in her pockets…simple things :)

We got Kaylee a fish about a month ago. It’s just a little beta fish that has a little bowl. Nothing spectacular, but she loves him. He is blue, so I’ll let you guess what she named him….yep, you guessed it….BLUE. Actually she calls him “blue fish”. That’s usually how she names her things. She has three babies; baby green, baby pink and baby purple. This is just because of the clothes they are wearing…so funny.

What else…potty training is still in progress. She recently got big girl panties to try. She does really well and is continuing to do so. I think it will happen all of a sudden when she wants to get rid of the diapers. That’s how everything else she does is, why not potty training right?

While I could go on and on…I’m hoping since I’m done with school, I’ll have some more time to update. She will turn two in two weeks and she’ll have her well check up as well. I will have more to post soon :)

Enjoy the pictures…it’s been a while so there is a lot!

Skipping rocks with Daddy

Learning to skip rocks...

This was Daddy's lunch break. We had to stop skipping rocks because Daddy had to get back to work. Had to get a picture of Daddy and Kaylee, even though she was mad we were leaving :)

Picture time with Mommy. Recovering a little from the news that we were leaving the park.

Mommy's Graduation...

Love this girl!

Family picture...of course I wouldn't be looking forward :)

Daddy making us laugh doing Kaylee's hair.

Kaylee had helped me make a cake earlier...guess she was pooped and needed a place to rest her head...poor Zoe Zo

This was the cake...she is so much fun to do this stuff with.

Chocolate all over her face...gotta love it!

We went to Build-a-Bear...what a blast...she put a little heart in her bear, gave him like 4 baths, and picked out a stroller for him...too fun.

To bad that's the only time poor bear will ever ride in the stroller bought for him...She loves her baby dolls.

Couldn't resist posting this picture.

"BLUE FISH"

BIG NEWS!!!

No I'm not pregnant....I know what many of you are thinking, lol! I am however, officially a nurse. I took, and passed, my boards yesterday and just found out about a half hour ago that I passed... What a relief. I had been having chest pain for 3 days....totally gone now!

A blog post will be in the near future...I work this weekend, ugh, but next week I'm hoping I will be able to get a post on here about Kaylee and some other exciting stuff happening around here. Between studying for the darn boards and spending a little time outside with some beautiful weather and my wonderful family, time just disappears on me.

A quick thanks to ALL who have always supported both Josh and I in our endeavors. We truly appreciate it!

Catch Up

Big news…I’m done with school :) My final was last Monday, which I rocked out with a 96.47%....yeeeaaahhh. I graduate this Sunday.

It still doesn’t feel real but I’m starting to have this feeling….what’s it called…boredom? No worries though, I will adjust in no time with many other things to do. I have a list of things I want to get done (a sort of “honey do” list I made for myself).

While I wrote most of this blog post last week, I have figured out that boredom isn’t the right word. I was almost lost for a few days. I didn’t know what to do when the days came that I usually had homework due. I fiddled around the house a lot with Josh asking me “what are you doing?” like I was crazy or something. I did a lot of things on my “honey do” list (although it doesn’t seem any shorter, lol). I have kept myself so busy that I forgot I had already typed most of this up to post it. So here it is….this is what’s up with us nowadays.

First off, I can’t wait for spring to come. I am looking forward to going to the park, going to the zoo and playing outside with Kaylee this year. She is so much fun inside that I can’t wait to see what she does outside. When we had the really warm weather a couple of weeks ago, Josh and I took her to the park. It was so much fun. Let me tell you, I have a fearless child. She heads for the giant slides at the park and wants nothing to do with those tiny baby slides. She wants to do everything all by herself and if you would let her, she would try to slide down the big slide head first. She loves to swing and run and play. I just can’t tell you how much fun she is.

Perfect example, we have this little tid bit saved on the DVR of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”. She LOVES this song. Her face lights up when it’s on and she dances and sings along with it. She puts her hands on her hips and does this little sassy walk that is just so funny.

Our girl has quite the imagination. The kitchen we bought her for Christmas is one of her favorites, but this past week we bought her this little baby set from Target that has a baby crib, bouncer, carrier, changing table, high chair and wearable carrier (all for 20 bucks!), gotta love Target. She also has bottles, bibs and diapers for the baby and loves to change her, feed her, burp her (which is freakin’ cute because she makes a burp noise for the baby) and carries her all around the house with her. At least I know she’ll be helpful when we have another baby, lol.

Interesting things…

  • Kaylee is almost to the point she can climb out of her crib. One day, she’ll figure out that she is tall enough to actually do it :)
  • Kaylee enjoys chores. Not that we really have chores for her (besides cleaning up her toys). But she loves to help with laundry, feed the dogs, loading and unloading the dishwasher, vacuuming, etc.
  • Kaylee can count to ten and knows about 5 letters in her first name and 3-4 in her middle name.
  • She loves to say “oh man!”…she drops something, it’s
“oh man!” she misses something, it’s “oh man!” It’s just too funny.
  • I can’t wait for the zoo…she loves “aminamals” <------ Kaylee’s word :) She knows giraffes, lions, tigers, bears, pandas, penguin, elephants, rabbits, monkeys, horses, and many, many more.
  • She does really well with her colors. She knows white, black, brown, pink, purple, green, blue, orange, red, and yellow.
  • She loves to wear hats and carries her purse (or whatever bag she can find) everywhere.

I could pretty much talk all day if you let me just telling you about every little cute thing Kaylee does. I just love this stage….I’ve loved every stage :)

On with the pictures and videos (hopefully they will work!)

ENJOY…

Christmas Post and more :)

Here comes the traditional....WOW...we've been so busy lately :) I have started classes again (my last one!) and Josh just graduated a few weeks ago. Christmas seems like so long ago now, so I figured I better get a post in about it. Kaylee was pretty sick over Christmas and although she is smiling happily in some pictures, you might see how she didn't feel good in others. She was sick the week before Christmas with what seemed like a cold. Nothing specific was happening until she got a lot worse the night before Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve morning, we took her to urgent care at Children's hospital after a rough night. Poor girl couldn't sleep unless Mommy or Daddy was holding her upright so she could breathe better and actually rest. She had croup and an ear infection. Needless to say, she was feeling pretty crummy for Christmas. Christmas morning was interesting. At first she was excited and ran to the tree and headed for Daddy's presents, lol. She started ripping them open like a crazy child. We tried to get her to open some of her toys, but she didn't want anything to do with them...She finally started trying to open her presents, but apparently our little girl is a little OCD. She would tear open her paper and take even the smallest piece of paper to the trash can. Even though we brought the trash can to her, it took for EVER to open her presents :) It was really cute though. We made homemade doughnuts for breakfast before visiting some family. We didn't make all of the rounds that day because she was sick.

Before Christmas we baked cookies and made a ginger bread house. There will be pictures of Kaylee eating her icing. Baking cookies was very interesting. Because she was sneezing and coughing, we would roll out her dough (she had her own since she was sick and sneezing over everything...I know, gross) and she would use cookie cutters and cut them out with me. I did bake these (separate from the rest) so she could also decorate them. It took twice the time it should have because I ended up making ones that were edible as well (without the sneezes), but it was so worth it.

We also had taken Kaylee to see Santa (AKA "Sansa"). When we got there, Santa was on a break. She loved looking at the set and when Santa came down the escalator, Kaylee was so excited. She was saying "Sansa, Sansa, Sansa!!" The whole time we were in line, that's what she would say. She was just excited to see everything and loved Santa (or so we thought). As soon as Josh sat her on Santa's lap, that stopped. She didn't cry, she didn't scream, she didn't even say a word! She just held up her hands with that common toddler grabbing motion reaching for Mommy and Daddy (mainly Daddy, little stinker, lol). We got a few pictures, Josh picked her up and again she pointed and excitedly kept saying "Sansa, Sansa, Sansa!!". It was so funny.

Josh's graduation went very well. He graduated with honors again. I was a little nervous taking Kaylee with us. There were a lot of people there and before the ceremony began, she was getting a bit anxious. Turned out, right before the ceremony started she conked out on me. She slept the entire time until a few minutes before Josh walked. She was so cute. The whole time he was up there, she was like "Da Da, Da Da!". As each person walked across the stage, they were on the big screen over the stage. After that, we read some books that Mommy brought (always have a book on hand with this one) and she was just as happy as could be. Many people behind us complemented us on how well she did during the ceremony (even after she woke up). There were people there that had babies crying and didn't take them out of the auditorium.... I didn't understand that, but whatever. Josh starts grad school on Valentines day, so his time off is coming to an end very quick.

That's about all I have for now. This was suppose to be a quick, short post...I think I lost that concept somewhere :)

Enjoy some pictures...

Daddy and Kaylee...They are doing "I love you" in sign language...Notice Kaylee can only get one of the two fingers to stay down? So cute though. She is really catching on with the sign language.

The infamous Sansa Picture....

Icing Christmas cookies...

Christmas Morning...She loves this turtle.

Not feeling too good in the picture, but I had to post it because she had to wear Daddy's new slippers.

We are so lucky with this kid...even when she doesn't feel good, she is still a happy girl. She will smile and giggle and all. She will be cranky for a few minutes and after that be happy again.

A few days after Christmas...Loving her own chair!

Little princess in the toy box again...

Her very favorite Christmas gift. She plays with this all the time. She has quite the imagination. She makes us waffles all the time :)
